The science fiction series 'Arcadia' is set in the not-too-distant future: the Earth's resources have become so scarce that a points system determines people's lives. Those with a high citizen score lead a carefree life, while the others eke out a life in the world outside the Arcadia refuge, where human life is almost impossible. When it is discovered that the father of a family loyal to the authorities has manipulated the score of two of his daughters, he is banished to that very outside world, while his family has to contend with harassment in Arcadia from then on.
