Jarod sets out to debunk myths about the ocean's most-feared and most misunderstood creatures - sharks. With the help of the experts at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, California, Jarod prepares a fish feast and hand-feeds over a hundred sharks. He helps perform "surgery" on a rare shark egg. A friendly sea lion makes Jarod feel right at home before he gets in the water with a seven foot zebra shark.

With nearly seventy-five percent of Earth being covered by Oceans, it comes as no surprise that endless mysteries abound in the deep blue seas. Jarod Miller sets off to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, CA, to unlock the keys to some of these unknown quandaries. From the mysterious "Sea Lion Summit and Mass Exodus" in San Francisco to a lonely whale of unknown origin roving the Pacific, Jarod learns from experts just how fascinating the undersea world can be. The Aquarium offers its own set of oddities, whether it's the giant Pacific octopus or the vast array of colorful and quirky tropical fish. Will Jarod solve his deep-sea mysteries or will he leave with more questions than when he arrived? Either way, a world of wonder will open up and inspire others to become deep-sea detectives.

Jarod gets into the act as he discovers which animal's mating profile is most like his own. The mating process is much harder than simply putting a male and female together, and no animal exemplifies this more than the Panda. Some animals have multiple mates, some use strange scents and sounds to attract potential suitors, and others use brute force to impress the opposite sex. But without successful mating, an endangered species is bound to become extinct. The San Diego Zoo has one of the most successful breeding programs in the world, and when Jarod meets their new Panda cub, Yun Zi, he sees firsthand the adorable result of a rare animal romance.

Jarod literally zips into the San Diego Wild Zoo's Animal Park, as he flies over field exhibits on the park's rapid Zipline, which simulates the actual flight of the California Condor. Jarod then enters the Condor breeding area, a magnificent display of animal conservation that took a species of only 22 birds to over 350. After examining other successful conservation programs, Jarod discovers the "Frozen Zoo," a collection of potential embryos that may someday save a species, Jurassic Park-style.

Showcasing animals from the early days of zoos as well as newer acquisitions, Jarod shows how zoos are now less like stamp collections and more like well-managed naturalistic environments focused on animal conservation. The Buffalo Zoo has upgraded its facilities to be state-of-the-art while still maintaining its intimacy and historical roots.
