Moneypenny killed Poynter by stabbing him, and with a lighter provided by Smith, set fire to the apartment (which also served to conceal evidence). This fire also spread to an adjacent building. Smith and Moneypenny then went to the home of Blaine Thacker and once there, Moneypenny killed Thacker by stabbing him in the throat. Both Smith and Moneypenny then took items of property from Thacker's home.
