Anna and Thomas, fifteen-year-old twins, and Tracy, their guardian who was looking after them while their mother was travelling, move in with Bobby and his friend and former roadie, Doug.

After next criticising the ethics of Tracy's fashion designs, Anna is arrested while picketing outside a store a store belonging to one of Tracy's clients initiating another fight between the two. Meanwhile, Bobby and Doug take in a kitten and Tracy asks a horoscope-obsessed Bobby to move a bench in the kitchen.

Now with a woman at his side, Wayne - uh, Mario - has changed completely. But this is just of a short duration when a stripper - ordered by Doug for a bachelor's party - somehow outs Wayne. Wayne calls Bobby's doctor to check on his condition but he misunderstands the message that Bobby "has left us for good" and must break the news to the family that Bobby is dead. Bobby is caught cheating on his urine test. Rumours of Bobby's passing do great things for memorabilia sales.

Bobby has finally worked up the nerve to ask out Tracy only for Tracy to walk in the front door and introduce everyone to her new French boyfriend. Etienne, a classically trained musician, asks Tracy to go to Paris with him. The kids go on an overnight school camping trip.

While Bobby hasn't changed at all, Lochlan has become a successful businessman with little time for music anymore. It's not the reunion Bobby was hoping for but Bobby is able to help Lochie through a family crisis.

Wayne has big news for Bobby - he's gotten his hands on the Big One - a major book deal for Bobby's memoirs. Bobby quickly accepts, now all he has to do is write the book. How hard could it be? The twins place a wager on Bobby's ability to finish the book while Doug set his eyes on playing Bobby in the eventual biopic. After the kids read Bobby's early draft, Tracy and Anna try to get Wayne to cancel the deal and in the process learn just who he sold Bobby's book to. In the end, Bobby surprises Wayne with a unique final product.

A front page story in the newspaper accuses Bobby of plagiarising his hit song, East Street. The supposed actual writer, Georgie Leonard, was Bobby's first musical partnership whose career was all but forgotten when he went to fight in Vietnam. Doug intends to clear Bobby's name and invites Georgie, now an insurance salesman, over to clear the air. But why doesn't Bobby seem to care about it as much as Doug?
