Beginning a steamy affair with an Algerian prosecutor investigating the case for her country probably wasn't the best idea, but as the pair go deeper, they uncover a corruption scandal testing their loyalty to their nations and to each other.

Ralf Eley, a German police investigator assigned to his country's embassy in Algiers, and Amel Samraoui, a young Algerian prosecutor, return together from a secret romantic getaway when they learn of the kidnapping of a German arms dealer on Algerian soil. Meanwhile, at the Tegel Airport in Berlin, Aziz Amrani, a young Algerian expatriate welcomes Djamel Benmedi, a fellow countryman who has just landed from Algiers. They both belong to a rebel faction that fights for the democratisation of Algeria, and plan to hold up a convoy of German assault rifles headed for Soudani's government.
