The life according to Bex. Bex Rebecca Atwell (Jessica Hynes) puts up with part time ex Boyfriend Ryan, a handsome but philandering father Who both treat her apartment like a drop in center only night time as well! She no longer wants to put up with a narcissistic boss who is useless at taking care of his own personal tasks or drop in guests. After a long day at work will she ever get anytime to her self at home maybe just have a cat to hang with and get her father out of her bed with his female guests and out of her apartment for good?
Episode 1
Stuck in the Middle: Bex decides gives speed dating a try. Her father Jack decides once again and without warning or invitation, to crash at her apartment and then crashes her speed dating evening! This is even more embarrassing for her too When she finds out which of the woman he gets a date with.
Episode 2
Bex gets invited to her cousin Olivia's wedding who bullied Bex as a child so she is apprehensive to go.She persuades Ryan to go with. Apparently Olivia hasn't changed still nasty as ever - will Bex get her comeuppance? Mean while Bex co worker and PA friend Jan who works for Chris, moonlights at a shoe shop because Chris doesn't pay her enough. Chris decides to shop for shoes in the same store but she too has her way own of verbal bullying Chris. luckily Jan is very discerning and has her own way of getting Chris back.
Episode 3
Bex gets invited to her cousin Olivia's wedding who bullied Bex as a child so she is apprehensive to go. She persuades Ryan to go with her. Apparently Olivia hasn't changed much and is still nasty as ever! Will Bex get her comeuppance? Charles needs Bex to go break up with a woman named Fiona that he dated once and didn't want to see her again. Bex is not happy about this but meets her for lunch and tries graciously to let her down easy. Unfortunately Fiona doesn't get it and Bex is exhausted running out of ideas.
Episode 5
Bex lets "not her boyfriend" Ryan stay over tells him he can have a drawer so he can tidy up his clothes but he takes it as she is trying to suffocate him The irony of it all is he has more junk with him now at her place then his own flat and he's completely ignorant of it. He thinks now they are officially drawer mates! It's more junk and now uninvited friends! the job satisfaction moral at work with her co-workers is very low. Charles and Chris are still useless s ever leaving Jan and Bex to deal with it all.

Bexs meets someone at pub ago tells her "he will give her a call Friday" Bex stays in Friday night waiting for him to call and orders her usual Friday night for an Indian takeaway! Meanwhile Charlie's barges in her apartment with Rory the dog and needs a place to hide because he took the dog from his ex.

It's Bexs 30th Birthday! Everyone asks her what she wants and it's always the same All she wants is flowers, from anyone. Nobody seems to listen or care. Ryan says it's a waste as flowers die Jack her father tries just giving her money so Bex can get a nice pearl necklace - Bex explains to him it's more meaningful for a girls father to pick out Jan plans a birthday surprise party and has everybody come to Bexs apartment while She is out on a dinner date And guess who's sitting at the next table and what he gives his dinner date?
