In 2012, Dr. Joseph Sonnier, a Lubbock, Texas, pathologist, was found murdered in his own home. Prosecutors argued that Dr. Thomas Michael Dixon paid his friend David Shepard to stalk and then kill Sonnier because Dixon was jealous that Sonnier was dating Dixon's former girlfriend Richelle Shetina. Dixon, a plastic surgeon from Amarillo, Texas, was eventually convicted of the murder in 2015.

On September 2, 2015, Kendra Hatcher, age 35, a successful pediatric dentist, was pronounced dead. She had been shot in the back of the head in the gated parking garage of her Dallas, Texas condo. Detectives must unravel a twisted and complex plot as they chase a fugitive who ends up on the FBI's most-wanted list. In the end, Kendra's death was part of a murder-for-hire plot involving a love triangle. The perpetrators were Brenda Delgado, Crystal Cortes, and Kristopher Love. They were all convicted of the crime and sentenced to varying amounts of time in prison.

The murder of Teresa Sievers, age 46, occurred on June 28, 2015, when she was attacked at her home in Bonita Springs, Florida by two men who bludgeoned her to death with a hammer, striking her a total of seventeen times. Police arrested two men from Missouri for the crime, Curtis Wayne Wright Jr. and Jimmy Ray Rodgers. In December 2015, Teresa's husband, Mark Sievers, was arrested and accused of orchestrating the killing, with the motive being life insurance money, as well as the fact that Teresa was supposedly going to take his daughters away from him and he could not afford to fight for custody. All three men were found guilty of the murder. Wright was sentenced to twenty-five years, Rodgers was sentenced to life in prison, and Mark Sievers was sentenced to death.

February 5, 2019, Greenwich, Connecticut: A motorway clean-up crew discovered a suitcase in the woods of Connecticut containing the bound, gagged and crumpled remains of a woman. The Medical Examiner was able to positively identify the body as 24-year-old Valerie Reyes, who had been listed as a missing person from New Rochelle, New York. As the list of potential suspects grows, the task of solving the case for homicide detectives may hinge upon a portrait of the killer sketched by the victim. In the end, Valerie's ex-boyfriend Javier Enrique Da Silva Rojas, age 25, confessed to her murder. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
