A Current Affair

An American television news magazine produced by the Fox Television Stations. It was largely based at Fox's New York City flagship station WNYW, and was broadcast in syndication from July 1986 to August 1996. While the show covered a number of hard news stories, the main focus was always on sensational stories of crime, scandal, and celebrity gossip. The show was part of a new wave of tabloid journalism shows on television, alongside its competitors "Hard Copy" and "Inside Edition". The show's regular host from 1986 to 1990 was the former radio reporter Maury Povich. He was replaced by Maureen O'Boyle from 1990 to 1994. Jim Ryan served as the interim host in the summer of 1994. Penny Daniels served as the main host from the autumn of 1994 to early 1995, and Jon Scot was the main host from late 1995 to 1996. There was a brief revival of the show in 2005 with more of an emphasis on crime stories and a more serious tone. The host of that version was Tim Green.
