Genesis

Michael Cates, a government agent who infiltrated a criminal's organization and upon witnessing the man kill someone testifies against him. Later someone plants a bomb at Cates' house killing his wife and daughter. Cates goes on a bender. His boss suggests he go into hiding as a trucker. But first he goes after the criminal's enforcer, thinking he was the one who killed his family.

Hardesty informs Chance that an agent whom he knows was killed. He tells him that he was undercover infiltrating the group of two brothers who work for Calder. Evidently they found out who he is. Hardesty lets him go investigate and he does. He talks to the detective working the case but on orders from Hardesty doesn't say much. He eventually finds himself in the clutches of the brothers' rival. And he forms an alliance with them.
