Coming to Earth on a meteorite that falls to Earth, a microscopic alien life form later named Hedorah feeds on Earth's pollution and eventually grows into a gigantic, ever-evolving, poisonous smog-spewing and acidic sludge-secreting monster. Godzilla, Earth's defender, senses the threat and meets ''the Smog Monster'' head-on in a literal battle for Earth's survival.

Aliens intend to take over the planet and, just in case Godzilla tries to interfere, have built a mechanical version of him to put an end to his interference. The Earth humans summon the legendary King Shîsâ to assist Godzilla in the battle.

Nuclear tests cause shock-waves that reach Monster Island and start to break the island apart. In Japan, inventor Goro Ibuki, along with his little brother Rokuro and friend Hiroshi, survive an aftershock that drains Lake Kitayama. Returning home, the trio are attacked by a trespasser, an agent for the undersea nation of Seatopia. Lead by Emperor Antonio, the Setopians steal a robot invented by Goro named Jet Jaguar. Awakening their monster god, Megalon, the Setopians command Jet Jaguar to guide Megalon in attacking the surface world. However, when Jet Jaguar breaks free and summons Godzilla into the fray, the Setopians request aid from M Space Hunter Nebula Aliens. A tag team match soon ensues between Godzilla and Jet Jaguar against Megalon and Gigan.

In Bagdad, the young and naive Sultan Ahmad is curious about the behavior of his people. The Grand Vizier Jaffar convinces Ahmad to walk through the city disguised as a subject to know his people. Then he seizes the power telling to the inhabitants that Ahmad has died while he sends his army to arrest the Sultan that is thrown into the dungeons and sentenced to death. Ahmad befriends the young thief Abu that helps him to escape from the prison. They flee to Basra and plan to travel abroad with Sinbad. However Ahmad stumbles upon the beautiful princess and they fall in love with each other. But the evil Jaffar has also traveled to Basra to propose to marry the princess. When they see each other, Jaffar uses magic to blind Ahmad and turn Abu into a dog. Is their love doomed?

Takaki and Akari are two classmates in elementary school. During their time together they have become close friends. Their relationship is tested when Akari moves to another city because of her parents' jobs. Both of them struggle to keep their friendship alive, as time and distance slowly pulls them apart. When Takaki finds out that he is moving further away, he decides to visit Akari one last time.

François Lepic has to write a composition on the theme of "family" - nothing more simple than that. Little François Lepic, who is only called "Red Head", has his problems with this task though. His mother maltreats and scolds his all the time, his older siblings make fun of him and his father seems not to care about him at all. Be it a piece of melon or just a smile, his mother refuses it to him. She grabs every opportunity to express her frustration. One night, when she realizes that Red Head relieves himself in the chimney, because she had locked his door before going to bed, she puts his chamber pot under his bed to make it look like he had had the choice - only to be able to punish him afterwards. The only one who realizes Madame Lepic's cruelties is the maid Annette, who subsequently takes care of the boy. His wishes of a picture perfect family is something Red Head cannot stop thinking about, since all he wants is to be loved. When money is missing from the family purse and Red Head is suspected of stealing and this situation degenerates into a massive falling out between the parents, Red Head feels more responsible than ever for the failed marriage. Plagued by the feeling that he is unloved - and maybe even not loving his own mother anymore - he seeks shelter and security with his best friend, the dog. In his desperation he only sees one way to betterment, even redemption. Red Head, however, is not quite as alone as he had hitherto believed .

It also demonstrates the power of oral communication and the way in which small talk acts as a lubricant for our daily lives.
