A jury found mob boss James "Whitey" Bulger guilty on 31 of 32 counts, including his involvement in 11 murders, CNN reports.

The guilty verdicts in the federal racketeering trial could result in a sentence of up to life in prison. Bulger, 83, could die in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 13.

The jury, which deliberated for more than 32 hours, found that Bulger was involved in 11 murders, but also found that the government failed to prove he had a role in seven other murders. The jury made no finding in one murder.

Bulger was found not guilty of the alleged extortion of Kevin Hayes, a ticket broker who claimed he was warned in 1994 that he had to give "payoffs" to Bulger in order to operate.

Bulger did not take the stand in his own defense during the seven-week-long trial and showed no emotions Monday as the verdict was read, according to CNN.

The former head of Boston's Winter Hill Gang, Bulger evaded police for 16 years before being arrested in Santa Monica, Calif. In 2011. Bulger ran Boston's Irish mob from the early '70s until 1995 — when he fled the city after a crooked FBI agent warned Bulger that he was about to be indicted on federal racketeering charges.

Bulger's girlfriend, Catherine Grieg, who was arrested alongside him in 2011, pleaded guilty in March to charges of conspiracy to harbor a fugitive, identity fraud and conspiracy to commit identity fraud. Grieg, 61, was sentenced in June to eight years in federal prison.

Bulger was allegedly the inspiration for Jack Nicholson's character in the Oscar-winning film, The Departed. Director Barry Levinson and  actor-screenwriters Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, are said to be interested in making films based on Bulger's life.
