For the past few seasons, the Irish have relied on the transfer portal to fill the quarterback position. In 2025, however, they're handing the keys of the offense to a player they recruited out of high school: four-star quarterback CJ Carr. He hasn't had meaningful college football experience before this year, but Notre Dame loves his upside as a passer.
Chris Ash is a notable addition to Notre Dame's coaching staff this year. As their new defensive coordinator, he has big shoes to fill. He'll be taking over for Al Golden, who was hired by the Cincinnati Bengals.
