The BAFTAs are back, ready to celebrate the best films of the year with a night full of cinematic excellence, big wins, and red carpet moments that'll have the internet buzzing. The 78th British Academy Film Awards (often referred to as "The BAFTAs" or "The BAFTA Awards") will take place on Sunday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m. GMT — which means for those of us watching in the U.S., that's 2 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. PT. The event will once again be held at London's Royal Festival Hall and will be hosted by none other than David Tennant for the second year in a row.
Now, if you're wondering where to watch the BAFTA Awards, you'll need to do a little bit of planning. Since the BAFTAs are a U.K.-based event, they won't be as straightforward to watch in the U.S. as, say, the Oscars. But don't worry — we've got you covered.
But, first, let's talk a little bit more about what to expect.

BAFTA Awards
BAFTABeyond the awards themselves, the BAFTAs are a red carpet who's who of the film industry. Expect to see Timothée Chalamet, Demi Moore, Hugh Grant, Mikey Madison, Sebastian Stan, Cynthia Erivo, and plenty more stars making waves for their performances this year.
As for the big awards, we'll be paying close attention to Best Leading Actor, Best Leading Actress, and Best Film — with nominees like A Complete Unknown, Anora, Conclave, Emilia Pérez, and The Brutalist competing for the top prize.
But, what about the royal family? While Prince William has long been a fixture at the BAFTAs in his role as president of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, he won't be making an in-person appearance this year. Instead, he'll share a pre-recorded message during the ceremony. In 2024, William attended the event solo while Princess Kate remained out of the public eye during her recovery from surgery earlier that year. Though she has since resumed her royal duties, her schedule remains lighter than in previous years, meaning the royal couple will be skipping the festivities this time around.
How, we can't exactly say we know what's going to happen. It's an award show, after all. But, if you're interested in learning where to watch the BAFTAs this year, see below.
Amazon Prime costs $14.99/month or $139 annually, which gives users access to major daily deals, deals events, thousands of movies and TV shows through Prime Video, and much more. But, Prime Video also offers a number of apps to add to your subscription service that allows folks to stream even more — and BritBox is one of them.
BritBox offers the very best of British TV, including content from Channel 4 and BBC. But, it will also be the best spot where Americans can stream all the live action you'll need to see at the BAFTA Awards. Prime Video offers BritBox for a seven day free trial until it renews to $8.99/month thereafter.
Since the BAFTA Awards are airing on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, folks not in the U.K. will run into streaming restrictions. If you're not interested in BritBox, that's where a VPN comes in handy. A Virtual Private Network lets you mask your location, making it look like you're streaming from the United Kingdom even if you're in Arkansas.
Services like ExpressVPN and Private Internet Access are solid choices for unlocking geo-blocked content. ExpressVPN is known for its fast, reliable connections and even offers discounts on annual plans, while Private Internet Access is a budget-friendly option, starting at just $2/month. Both are easy to set up and provide a secure, smooth streaming experience, so you won't miss a single red carpet arrival or acceptance speech.
If you're looking for a way to stream the BAFTAs live, a VPN plus BBC iPlayer is your best bet — just connect to a U.K. server, create an account, and enjoy the show.
