The new web series will not only provide a back story for the fan favorite zombie known as "Bicycle Girl," but it will also show the beginnings of the zombie apocalypse, according to The Walking Dead's co-executive producer Greg Nicotero.
"A fun thing about our show is that it jumps the timeline every once in a while to flash you back," says the director of the six-episode online series. "We took that same idea [for the webisodes] to go to the start of the outbreak. Because in the first season, Rick gets shot and when he wakes up, it's all happened already, so there's a whole story there about when it happens — how it happens — in society, and I played up that aspect."
Nicotero calls the shoot, with actors Lilli Birdsell and Rex Linn (CSI: Miami), "a marathon of craziness. We shot 20 pages of stuff in two days!" All six episodes of the series will be available on AMCtv.com Monday, October 3, at 2/1c. Nicotero will also direct an episode of the second season of The Walking Dead, which premieres Sunday, Oct. 16 at 9/8c on AMC.
