USA is expanding into comedy, picking up its first two half-hour sitcom pilots including one from Nathan Lane.
Lane will executive-produce and possibly star in a still untitled show about an unlucky actor who puts his Broadway aspirations on the back burner to return to Texas to care for his sick father. Douglas McGrath (Bullets Over Broadway, I Don't Know How She Does It) will write and executive-produce.

The second pilot, Paging Dr. Reed, follows two brothers who take over their late father's medical practice.
