Sylvester Stallone is coming back Sooner rather than later (get it?)

Jay Will, Sylvester Stallone and Mike Walden, Tulsa King
Brian Douglas/Paramount+The Taylor Sheridan ecosystem on Paramount+ never rests, with a half-dozen shows that frequently dominate the streamer's charts. Among them is Sylvester Stallone's Tulsa King, which has been renewed for both a third and fourth season. Paramount+ just can't get enough of Stallone, whose family has also been the subject of a reality show on the streaming service, and it apparently can't get enough of the Tulsa King universe, as it has ordered the New Orleans-set spin-off NOLA King, starring Samuel L. Jackson (more on that below).
Tulsa King premiered in 2022 and quickly became another hit for Paramount+ and superproducer Sheridan, whose other shows on the streaming service include Yellowstone prequels 1883 and 1923, CIA thriller Lioness, oil industry drama Landman, and crime drama Mayor of Kingstown. Sheridan created the show specifically for Stallone to star in and famously wrote the first draft of the pilot in less than 24 hours.
Stallone, who's also a writer and executive producer on the show, stars as Dwight "The General" Manfredi, a New York mobster who is exiled by his crime family to Tulsa, Oklahoma, after he's released from prison after 25 years. Tulsa is totally different from what he's used to, but he's an adaptable guy, and before long, he's gone independent, setting up his own crew and getting involved in various legal and illegal businesses. This puts him in conflict with all kinds of people, from law enforcement to his old crime family to local bikers to the Kansas City mob and so on and so forth. All the while, he's working to repair his relationship with his real family, including daughter Tina (Tatiana Zappardino) and sister Joanne (Annabella Sciorra).
The new season of Tulsa King will finally see the light of day on Sunday, Sept. 21 on Paramount+, with new episodes dropping weekly from there. Season 3 will run for 10 episodes, and the season finale will drop on Nov. 23.
More on Netflix:
The trailer for Season 3, released in early September, shows there's no rest for the king. Dwight is up to his crisply pressed collar in trouble this season, with... let's just call them "business conflicts." Stick around to the end to see the debut of a special guest star.
Along with the premiere date announcement, Paramount+ released more than a dozen photos of Tulsa King Season 3, including some shots of future NOLA King Russell Lee Washington Jr., played by Samuel L. Jackson. Take a look at them below.
Tulsa King's first season was actually filmed in Oklahoma, but the production moved to the Atlanta area starting in Season 2.
There are some behind-the-scenes changes for Season 3. Dave Erickson will serve as the new showrunner, taking over for Terence Winter and Craig Zisk, who were unofficially co-showrunning Season 2. Erickson is tight with Tulsa King creator Taylor Sheridan, as he's the showrunner of one of Sheridan's other Paramount+ shows, Mayor of Kingstown.
Other EPs include David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Braden Aftergood, and Keith Cox. The series is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, which also produce Sheridan's other shows, including Yellowstone.
Deadline reports that Stallone will be paid over $1.5 million per episode for his work on Tulsa King.
Samuel L. Jackson will be appearing on Tulsa King this season as Russell Lee Washington Jr., an old prison buddy of Dwight's who is sent to Tulsa to take him out. Jackson's appearance on Tulsa King will lead into a new spin-off series called NOLA King, which you can read about below.

Garrett Hedlund, Jay Will, Sylvester Stallone, Cash Flo, and Martin Starr, Tulsa King
Brian Douglas/Paramount+Much of the regular cast will return for Season 3, including Sylvester Stallone (obviously), Max Casella, Martin Starr, and Dana Delany. New Season 2 cast members Frank Grillo and Neal McDonough will also be back, and they can be seen in the Season 3 trailer.
The biggest additions will be Robert Patrick (Peacemaker) and Beau Knapp (SEAL Team), who join as the father-son duo of Jeremiah and Cole Dunmire, the antagonists of Season 3 who butt heads with Dwight. Samuel L. Jackson will also appear in the season as Russell Lee Washington Jr., the centerpiece of the forthcoming Tulsa King spin-off NOLA King, though it's unclear how much he'll appear in this season.
The official logline from Paramount+ says, "In Season 3, as Dwight's empire expands, so do his enemies and the risks to his crew. Now, he faces his most dangerous adversaries in Tulsa yet: the Dunmires, a powerful old-money family that doesn't play by old-world rules, forcing Dwight to fight for everything he's built and protect his family." Jeremiah Dunmire, the patriarch of the family, will be portrayed by Robert Patrick, and his son Cole will be played by Beau Knapp.
We also have some idea of what will happen based on two very notable things happened in the Season 2 finale. One is that Bill Bevilaqua killed ousted New York boss Chickie Invernizzi (Domenick Lombardozzi), who wouldn't stop hounding Dwight to rejoin the family. In return, Dwight agreed to give BB half of his earnings. That seems like a lot, but Bill came up with a plan to "franchise" what Dwight did in Tulsa in other cities — that is, come in and corner the crime market for the mafia.
The other is that in the final moments of the episode, while Dwight was asleep in bed with Margaret, an FBI SWAT team busted into their house and took Dwight into custody. In an interrogation room, an agent whose face we didn't see told Dwight, "You work for us now." The who, what, why, and how of all that will have to be revealed in Season 3.
A new crime family, the Renzettis, will be sticking their noses into Dwight's affairs for the first time in Season 3, when they send in Dwight's old prison buddy Russell Lee Washington Jr. (Samuel L. Jackson) to kill him. It's unclear whether the Renzettis will continue to be involved in the events of Tulsa King beyond that, or if they'll follow Washington to his spin-off series in New Orleans. Speaking of which...
Paramount+ has finally officially revealed NOLA King, a spin-off that will focus on Samuel L. Jackson's character, Russell Lee Washington Jr. Here's the official plot synopsis:
"NOLA King follows Russell Lee Washington Jr. (Jackson) who, after befriending Dwight Manfredi (Stallone) during a 10-year stint in federal prison, is sent to Tulsa by New York's Renzetti crime family to take Dwight out once and for all. Inspired by what Dwight created in Tulsa and impressed with the possibilities of second chances, Washington returns to New Orleans, the home he abandoned forty-years ago, to rekindle his relationship with his family, friends, and to take control of the city he left behind. In so doing, he incurs the wrath of his former employers in New York, and makes himself vulnerable to old NOLA foes, both criminal and cop."
In essence, Washington likes what Manfredi has done in Tulsa and wants to try something similar in his hometown of New Orleans. It's that last bit that should keep this new series from feeling like a retread, because Washington's efforts will be complicated by the fact that he's doing it in a place where he has deep personal ties that predate his time working with organized crime.
Tulsa King showrunner Dave Erickson was supposed to perform that same duty on NOLA King, but he backed out due to a scheduling conflict a week before Paramount+ gave the series the green light.
If you're looking for other shows with Tulsa King's combination of action-packed mafia drama and fish-out-of-water comedy, we have some recommendations. Check these out while you wait for Season 3.
Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Paramount+.
