Tom Cruise on Divorce From Katie Holmes: "I Did Not Expect That"

Tom Cruise says that he was as surprised as anyone when Katie Holmes filed for divorce last June.
"I did not expect that," Cruise told the German TV network ProSieben.

Holmes, with whom Cruise has a 6-year-old daughter, Suri, announced the split just five days before the actor's 50th birthday. The divorce was settled less than two weeks later. "Life is a challenge to be 50 and to have experiences and to think you have everything under control, and then it hits you — that's what life is," Cruise continued."Life is tragicomic," he added. "You need a certain sense of humor."Holmes and Cruise married in November 2006. He was previously married to Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman, with whom he has two children, Isabella and Connor.
