It's been a long and painful wait for Season 3 of The Wheel of Time, but fortunately Amazon Prime Video isn't going to make us wait too much longer for the next part of Robert Jordan's epic fantasy tale. We're just weeks away from the season premiere, and Amazon has whet fans' appetites by dropping Season 3's ridiculously action-packed opening scene, which you can watch below.

Since Season 1 premiered in 2021, the adaptation of Jordan's 14-book series has definitely polarized fans but has found an audience outside the Randland (a nickname of the fantasy world) diehards. Merging Jordan's books and weaving plots together to condense them down without resorting to an index or companion book was one of the largest tasks showrunner Rafe Judkins had to face taking on the series, as he explained to GameSpot back in 2021 before the series premiered.

Even diverting from the source material, The Wheel of Time found its identity among other established fantasy powerhouses like HBO's The House of The Dragon and another Prime Video hit, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

Here's everything we know about The Wheel of Time Season 3.

The Wheel of Time Season 3 release date

The Wheel of Time returns to Prime Video on March 13, 2025 with a three-episode premiere. After that, the remaining five episodes will land on the streaming service weekly.

Wheel of Time Season 3 trailers and clips

Ahead of the premiere of the third season of The Wheel of Time, Amazon Prime Video released the beginning of the new season — an 11-minute clip — to get fans excited for Season 3, and it is wild. In the clip we see a confrontation between Aes Sedai (women who can use magic), as the most senior of them, Amyrlin Siuan Sanche, confronts Liandran Guirale over her actions in Season 2, in the process revealing that Liandran is a Darkfriend, one who's sworn to the Shadow — and it turns out she's not the only one. Things start tense, and quickly explode into a full-blown magical battle that's full of bloody carnage. It's one hell of a spectacle to open Season 3 with. Check it out above.

Prime released a teaser before the start of the new year, showing Rand and Lan practicing sword forms, Moghidien (Laia Costa) getting into a glaring contest seemingly with Lilandrin (Kate Fleetwood), hints of the city of Rhuidean and Avendesora (the tree of life in the Aiel Waste), and Moiraine coming to terms with the fact that she might have to die so Rand can live. "I have seen a thousand, thousand futures and every future where I lived, Rand dies, and the only way he lives is if I don't," Moiraine says.

The main recurring cast from the previous seasons is back for more:

  • Rosamund Pike, who has become almost a flagbearer for the show as she provides narrations for the series' audiobooks, will return as Moiraine
  • Josha Stradowski is Rand al'Thor, now the Dragon Reborn — the man who will save the world, or break it trying to
  • Marcus Rutherford is Perryn, who is undergoing a curious case of quasi-lycanthropy
  • Dónal Finn as the mischievous Mat, taking over the role from Barney Harris, who left the show before Season 1 ended for yet-to-be-revealed reasons
  • Madeleine Madden as Egwene al'Vere, the young woman whose great power is becoming stronger than she ever could have imagined
  • Daniel Henny as Lan Mandragoran, Moiraine's bodyguard and longtime friend, who became estranged during the events of Season 2, but reunited once again
  • Zoë Robins as Nynaeve al'Meara, a former village healer on the path to becoming one of the most powerful Aes Sedai of the age.

Prime Video has announced several new cast members for the show, including the royal family of Andor, Daughter-heir Elayne's (Ceara Coveney) relatives.

There's also the addition of Oscar nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo as the villainous Elaida, which was perhaps one of the worst-kept secrets of the production.
