All's fair in love and war, and Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are both in it to win it on this season of The Voice. In this exclusive video from the blind auditions and behind-the-scenes interviews with all four coaches, it's clear that their real-life romance isn't stopping Stefani from coming back to the show with a vengeance as she declares, "This is war."

"When we talked about coming back, he was so excited, and I was so excited, but we were like, 'This has to be war,'" Stefani explains of her decision to return to the red chair after four seasons. "I have to be competitive, and we're against each other ... It's fun being in competition with Blake on the show because that's not really who we are at home at all. It's just funny. I want to win, though. I do, I really want to win."

Of course, as the footage shows, it's not all about animosity between the two; Stefani has at times used her personal connection with Shelton to her advantage by offering one contestant a "two-for-one" deal and putting on puppy eyes to keep him from fighting her for another.

"It's interesting how they fight because there's so much love there. It's all in good fun. But I think they enjoy the competitive aspect, too," fellow coach John Legend says of the season's new dynamic. "It's fun watching Gwen and Blake go at it. They have the perfect balance of being loving and competitive at the same time. Maybe it's a good tension release for a relationship, it's like when Chrissy [Teigen] trolls me on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Kelly Clarkson, who is competitive with both but seems to have a particular fondness for Stefani, says, "Sometimes it's nice to watch Mom and Dad fight. I'm getting a lot of joy out of it, it's weird."

As we barrel toward the finish line of the blind auditions and the battles begin next week, we can probably expect that competitive spirit to get even more intense between Shelton and Stefani, as well as Legend and Clarkson. For now, let's just enjoy all these cutesy couple moments while they last because next season, it'll be a whole different game once Nick Jonas takes over Stefani's spot.

The Voice airs Monday and Tuesday nights at 8/7c on NBC.
