It's hard to believe that after five long years, The Originalshas only a handful of episodes left before the series finale.

We've watched these characters grow from villains of The Vampire Diaries into unconventional heroes on The Originals, and we're not quite ready to say goodbye to them. Still, we had to ask the cast what they would miss most about making the show and one of the most common answers was you guys, the fans.

"This show wouldn't have existed without you guys," says Joseph Morgan. "You watched Vampire Diaries and you started putting all of these trailers online, making all these trailers for The Originals. I mean, you guys even named it... You took a couple of villains from that show and you decided you wanted a show about them, and I'm just so grateful we got to go on that journey with you, so thank you so much for that experience."

"We really worked hard to tell great stories for you," says showrunner Julie Plec, "And your passion and your enthusiasm and your total rage at me for saying the show was over means that it meant a lot to you, and I appreciate that."

The Originals Mega Buzz: Will Klaus and Caroline End Up Together?

Fans of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals have certainly been a vocal bunch over the years, and their messages of love have always found their way to the cast via social media. Maybe you got a coveted retweet or maybe you didn't, but Claire Holt wants you to know that those messages were all received and appreciated.

"Your love and your support and your kindness does not go unnoticed," Holt says. "We talk about it all the time, and I'll remember it for the rest of my life."

As we round the bend towards the final episodes of the series, take some time to send that love to your fellow Mikaelson fans because honestly... you're going to need it.

The Originals airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on The CW.
