Emerald Fennell will play Prince Charles' one true love
Netflix's The Crown has found its Camilla Parker Bowles for Season 3, Deadline reports. Call the Midwife's Emerald Fennell will play Prince Charles' (Josh O'Connor) then-girlfriend in the next installment of the historical drama, which will cover 1964 to 1976 in the life of Queen Elizabeth II.
Prince Charles met Camilla, who then went by her maiden name, Shand, in the early '70s. They dated but split in 1973, and Camilla married army officer Andrew Parker Bowles that same year. Later on, Charles and Camilla reconnected, and she was his mistress during his marriage to Princess Diana. Their relationship continued after Charles and Diana's divorce, and in 2005 Charles and Camilla wed.
The next two seasons of The Crown will look quite different from the first two as the series moves forward in its timeline. Fennell joins Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth, Tobias Menzies as Prince Phillip and Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret, who are taking over the roles from the Season 1 and 2 cast of Claire Foy, Matt Smith and Vanessa Kirby. Seasons 3 and 4 are being shot concurrently.
The Crown Season 3 is coming to Netflix in 2019.
