The 100 Kills Off Another Beloved Original Character

Another one bites the dust...

The body count on The 100has always been high, but this season has been particularly brutal! Not only did we lose Marcus Kane (Henry Ian Cusick), but we've now also lost Abby Griffin (Paige Turco).

When it became clear to Abby that Russell (J.R. Bourne) would gladly kill Madi (Lola Flanery) in order to steal her bone marrow to create more hosts, she used one of the Nightblood doses on herself so they'd extract her bone marrow instead to create more serum. Unfortunately, Russell liked her spunk and decided she would make the perfect new host for his recently murdered wife, Simone.

Before she died, Abby was able to reunite with Clarke in a touching scene that ended up serving as a goodbye as well. She also got to sort out her issues with Raven (Lindsey Morgan), telling her that even though she wasn't her real mom, Raven would always be her family. Russell then injected her with a paralytic, and we were treated to some of Abby's best hits as her life literally flashed before her eyes.

Things only got worse from there.

Bellamy (Bob Morley) and Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos) tried to reveal the truth about the Primes to the masses of Sanctum, but Russell was prepared for that too. He, like Gabriel, had weaponized the red sun toxin from the forest and released it onto the crowd of innocents who quickly turned into deranged violence-monsters due to its effects.

Safe inside the Prime's palace, Clarke came face to face with her newly body-snatched mom, and for the first time since re-entering Sanctum pretending to be Josephine, her ruse slipped. Luckily, no one realized that her tearfully whispered "Mom" was for Abby instead of Simone.

Sadly, we probably shouldn't count on a miraculous save for Abby since, without the neural network that protected Clarke's mind from being erased when Josephine possessed her, Abby's mind ceased to exist when Simone took over. We hope wherever she is, she and Kane are together and sipping mimosas or something. They really do deserve it after all they had to go through.

The 100 airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on The CW.
