We'll miss Dean's scruff!

Dean Winchester's (Jensen Ackles) beard is a rare sight indeed, and it looks like we'll have to say goodbye to the scruff pretty soon afterSupernaturalSeason 15 premieres.

Last year, we had some good fun teasing Jared Padalecki about Sam's beard, which he maintained a lot longer than we actually expected in Season 14. At the start of Season 15, Ackles was the one sporting facial hair, but he announced Wednesday that he officially shaved the whole thing off after wrapping Episode 1, which he also directed.

"Well, that's a wrap on the first episode of the final season. Directing was intense...as you can clearly see. Here is my transformation back to good ol #DeanWinchester. Feels good. #Spn15 #spnfamily," Ackles wrote in a post on Instagram.

The post included before and after photos of him with and without the beard, and he was even kind enough to record the shaving process in a time-lapse video so Supernatural fans could go along for the ride. Padalecki can, of course, be spotted trimming up his own beard in the video and getting some sideburn touch-ups. It's hard work staying as pretty as these guys are!

Supernatural returns for Season 15 Thursday, Oct. 10 at 8/7c on The CW.
