The co-owners of one of the hottest restaurants in New York, The Meatball Shop, are experts in meatballs, but Daniel Holzman and Michael Chernow, stars of CNBC's docu-series Consumed, are turning their attention to another meat: the spiral-cut hot dog.

"This is the trend for 2015!" Holzman says, demonstrating how to take a skewer through the dog and wind up with a spiral that can hold the condiments inside.

Watch the video above to learn how to impress your friends with the simple technique and get recipes for their Chicago-style dog, a garden pesto dog that says you're fancy and more!

Consumed: The Real Restaurant Business airs on Wednesdays at 10/9c on CNBC. Check back for more summer cooking videos from Holzman and Chernow.
