The medical drama focuses on a complicated father-daughter relationship
Sophia Bush is officially coming back to broadcast TV, and this time she has her surgical gloves on. CBS announced on Friday
that it has ordered the medical drama Good Sam, which stars Bush and Jason Isaacs, to series.
The show follows Sam (Bush), a surgeon whose talents have gone underutilized thanks to her arrogant and overbearing boss, Dr. Paul "Griff" Griffith (Isaacs), who also happens to be her father. After he falls into a coma, Sam assumes leadership and begins to shine in her position, but she is thrown for another loop when he regains consciousness. The two are then forced to co-exist in a new world where their roles are reversed, with Griff now working as Sam's subordinate. The dramedy also stars Edwin Hodge, Skye P. Marshall, Michael Stahl-David, Davi Santos, Omar Maskati, and Wendy Crewson.
The pilot was written by Jane the Virgin's Katie Wech, who will run the series. Jane creator Jennie Snyder Urman will executive produce alongside and Tamra Davis.
Good Sam marks Bush's first leading TV role since she leftChicago P.D. in 2017, and she can also be seen in Love, Victor, Hulu's Love, Simon spin-off series.
