Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane will host the 2013 Oscars, the Academy announced Monday. It will be his first time as host. MacFarlane, who recently hosted Saturday Night Live and presented an award at last month's Emmys, called the opportunity "an overwhelming privilege."

MacFarlane, who recently hosted Saturday Night Live and presented an award at last month's Emmys, called the opportunity "an overwhelming privilege."
"My thoughts upon hearing the news were, one, I will do my utmost to live up to the high standards set forth by my predecessors; and two, I hope they don't find out I hosted the Charlie Sheen Roast," he said in a statement.
MacFarlane's other credits include the TV series American Dad!and The Cleveland Show, as well as the movie Ted.
The 85th Academy Awards will be broadcast live on Sunday, Feb. 24 on ABC. Nominees will be announced on Jan. 10.
