The 1973 Paris fashion show that changed history.
Selma director Ava DuVernay has signed on to co-write and direct The Battle Of Versailles, a film about a 1973 fashion show at the Palace of Versailles that pitted American and French designers, for HBO, according to Deadline. The event was notable for its progressive employment of many African-American models.
DuVernay was rumored to next take on Marvel's Black Panther, but left the project due to creative differences. She is also directing A Wrinkle in Time for Disney and working on Queen Sugar, a new series for OWN about a New Orleans family who owns a sugar-cane plantation.
