Just about the entire Sacred Heart gang is returning for the new season of Scrubs

Zach Braff and Donald Faison, Scrubs
Disney/Jeff WeddellJD, Turk, Elliot, Carl, and the rest of the Sacred Heart gang is back! After 15 years, the cast and crew of Scrubshas reunited to bring back one of the most beloved sitcoms of the new millennium for another season and, if things go well, maybe even more than that.
Starring Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes, and John C. McGinley, Scrubs was one of the early network sitcoms to ditch the whole multi-camera, studio audience thing in favor of shooting the series like a drama or a movie. But what makes Scrubs a classic is creator Bill Lawrence's trademark goodhearted charm, which more recently turned Ted Lasso into an instant classic at Apple. Scrubs is a show that just feels nice to watch.
And now it's coming back for a tenth season. Read on to find out what you can expect from the Scrubs revival.
The new season of Scrubs will premiere on ABC on Feb. 25, 2026, with new episodes released weekly thereafter. Episodes of the show will be streamable on Hulu the following day. ABC announced the premiere date when it released its winter TV schedule.
ABC has released a pair of teasers thus far, including a 90-second montage that mostly consists of clips of the original run of the series. It wraps up with two very short new bits that show off how well the core cast of JD, Turk, Carla, and Elliot have aged — and it turns out they look exactly the same. Check it out below.
Meanwhile, the other teaser, dropped on Instagram, is all new footage that shows that the gang really hasn't skipped a beat despite being apart for so long, both in the universe of the series and in our world.
Original series creator Bill Lawrence is producing the new season, but showrunning duties are being handled by Aseem Batra and Tim Hobert, both of whom worked in the writers room on the original run of the series.
As for the cast, Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, and Donald Faison are listed as regular cast members, John C. McGinley and Judy Reyes are listed as recurring cast members, and Robert Maschio (The Todd) and Phill Lewis (Hooch) will have some part to play as well. It seems likely that some other old hats will also make appearances, like the Janitor or the retired Dr. Kelso. But don't expect to see Sacred Heart's sad attorney Ted, since actor Sam Lloyd died in 2020.
Meanwhile, there will be plenty of new faces joining the show for the first time, including SNL alum Vanessa Bayer and Joel Kim Booster.
Scrubs revival cast list
The official synopsis goes like this: "JD & Turk scrub in together for the first time in a long time — medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time. Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart and some surprises along the way."
That's not much to go on. When we last saw these folks, JD and Elliot were married and expecting a baby daughter, Turk and Dr. Cox were teaching a new generation of doctors at a med school, and Carla had quit her job to be a stay-at-home mom — as as we can see in the teasers above, Carla is obviously back at work now.
With so little info, it's tough to make any educated guesses about the new season's storylines. We'll have to wait and see.
The new season of Scrubs doesn't appear to be planned as a one-time thing, and so it seems as if it's operating under the normal rules of network TV — if enough people watch, and the talent can stand being around each other, it'll be renewed. If not, then it won't.
So more seasons are certainly possible, but it's hard to guess how likely a renewal is.
