Idol Alum Scott MacIntyre Is Engaged

American Idol alum Scott MacIntyre is engaged to Christina Teich, People reports.

MacIntyre, 25, was a finalist in Season 8 and the first blind contestant to compete on the show. He and his fiancé will make their first public appearance together this Thursday at the Idol Prom in Hollywood.

MacIntyre's most recent album, Heartstrings, was released in March 2010 and debuted at No. 18 on iTunes.

"It's about love, it's about loss, it's about the hardships of another person when you can't do anything," he told TVGuide.com when it was released. "It's about trying to find hope when there's hopelessness around. They're all things I've been through in my life. I've put a lot of my heart into every song and it's always been about sharing a message."

The couple plans to wed later this year.
