Sarah Jessica Parker has signed on to star in the true crime thriller series Busted, Deadline reports.
Based on the book Busted: A Tale of Corruption and Betrayal in the City of Brotherly Love and set in Philadelphia, Busted tells the true story of two journalists, Wendy Ruderman and Barbara Laker, who began working with a criminal informant to uncover the corruption of the city's narcotics force. With few resources beyond their own persistence, Ruderman and Laker unveiled the unforgivable crimes of officers who fabricated search warrants, stole from legal immigrants and sexually assaulted women with no means to fight back.
Sidney Kimmel Entertainment has optioned the rights to Ruderman and Laker's book and will shop the project around after they've finished casting. David Frankel will direct and executive-produce the pilot, which Don Roos will write.
Since Sex and the City finished its run on HBO in 2004, Parker's only TV credits were three episodes of Glee. Instead, the actress has focused more on film work, including two Sex and the City movies, The Family Stoneand New Year's Eve.
