Film Producer Samuel Goldwyn Jr. Dies at 88

Film producer Samuel Goldwyn Jr.died Friday of congestive heart failure, TheWrap reports. He was 88.

Goldwyn Jr. was the son of actress Frances Howard and movie mogul Samuel Goldwyn, one of the founders of Paramount Pictures. Goldwyn Jr. went on to found the independent film studios The Samuel Goldwyn Company and Samuel Goldwyn films.

Goldwyn Jr. produced the Oscar-nominated Master and Commander, as well as The Preacher's Wife, Tortilla Soup, Mystic Pizza, Sid and Nancy and the 2013 remake of his father's 1947 hit, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

He is survived by his four sons, Scandal star Tony Goldwyn, former Paramount executive and producer John Goldwyn, Francis and Peter, and two daughters, Catherine and Elizabeth.
