The streaming service is said to be interested in picking up new episodes of the thriller series should ABC not renew it, Deadline reports.

Could Netflix pick up Fox's canceled Terra Nova?

The River ended its freshman run on ABC on Tuesday and grabbed just 3.98 million viewers and a 1.4 rating in the adults ages 18-49 demographic. However, numbers jump 36 percent when looking at Live+7 ratings, meaning that a sizable amount of viewers watched the viewers via DVR or TIVO.

From Paranormal Activity's Oren Peli, The River follows the wife and son of a famed wildlife expert and TV personality who travel to the Amazon six months after his disappearance to find him.

Netflix is also considering picking up new episodes of Terra Nova, the dino drama that Fox canceled after one season. Terra Nova finished its first season with slightly bigger numbers: 7.2 million viewers and a 2.1 rating.
