Rick and Morty

Adult Swim

The mind-bending multiversal adventures of the sociopathic scientist Rick and his gamer grandson Morty have enchanted nerds of all stripes since the series premiered on Adult Swim back in 2014. We're now in Season 8 of Rick and Morty, and it's certainly not looking like it's going to be any less complicated than the last seven seasons were. Which is good — if you wanted something simple, you'd probably just watch something else.

Rick and Morty has had to weather quite a controversy the last couple years, with its co-creator Justin Roiland — who also provided the voices of both Rick and Morty — being fired in 2023 after he was accused of domestic abuse and sexual assault. Season 7 moved forward with new voice actors for Rick and Morty, and with co-creator Dan Harmon still at the helm, but it feels like it's Season 8 where the series will enter a new era. They did finally kill off the series antagonist last season, after all.

Let's take a look at everything we know about Rick and Morty Season 8 so far.

Rick and Morty Season 8 latest news

Season 8 has an all-new opening credits sequence. Watch it below.

Rick and Morty Season 8 premiere date

The eighth season of Rick and Morty premiered on May 25, with each of the season's 10 episodes dropping weekly thereafter until the finale on July 27.

Rick and Morty Season 8 teasers and trailers

We've gotten two clips and one big teaser trailer (above) to promote Season 8 of Rick and Morty thus far, with both of the clips being focused on some sort of Easter-themed adventure. The trailer is one of those teasers that's mostly just a series of out-of-context clips without much to indicate what the story will look like. It certainly looks as eventful as you'd expect this show to be, though. Check out the clips below.

Rick and Morty Season 8 potential storylines

The multiverse is wide open in Season 8 in a way that it really has never been for our titular duo, because during Season 7 Rick finally defeated and killed the show's main baddie, Rick Prime. Rick Prime, as we know, inspired our version of Rick Sanchez to start going on these dimension-hopping adventures in the first place when he murdered Rick's wife and daughter before the beginning of the series. So Rick Prime finally biting the dust was like the Avengers: Endgame of Rick and Morty, because it marked the end of the show's overarching storyline.

Presumably, that would mean it's time for a new main thread to start. Since Rick didn't really feel any better after taking out Rick Prime, it could be that his next step will be to attempt to bring back his wife — a tall task as Rick Prime allegedly deleted her from every possible timeline. But I doubt Rick would let that stop him.

In any case, judging by the teases above, there will at least be an Easter-themed episode during which Rick and Morty will meet the Easter Bunny and run afoul of interdimensional Crusaders. And while we don't really know anything about any new throughlines for Season 8, we do have some clues in the form of the episode titles

Rick and Morty Season 8 episode titles

  1. Summer of All Fears
  2. Valkyrick
  3. The Rick, The Mort & The Ugly
  4. The Last Temptation of Jerry
  5. Cryo Mort a Rickver
  6. The Curickous Case of Bethjamin Button
  7. Ricker than Fiction
  8. Nomortland
  9. Morty Daddy
  10. Hot Rick

Rick and Morty Season 8 cast

The main voice cast will remain the same as it was during Season 7, when co-creator/star Justin Roiland was fired from the series after he was accused of domestic abuse and sexual assault in 2023. Roiland had provided the voices for both Rick and Morty, and he was replaced by Ian Cardoni as Rick, and Harry Belden as Morty.
