USA is in final talks to green-light the show for a ninth season, but Nicholson, who has played Det. Megan Wheeler for three seasons, won't be back, according to EW. Burrows, who co-starred on the ill-fated My Own Worst Enemy, is the front-runner for Nicholson's job, the report says. Burrows would play the partner of Jeff Goldblum's Det. Zach Nichols.

USA is 5-for-6 with renewals this season. Is Criminal Intent next?

A rep for the show's producer, however, would not confirm the report, telling TVGuide.com that no deals have been finalized for Season 9.
