Rob Lowe will join the cast of Parks and Recreation starting with the second-to-last episode of the season, executive producer Michael Schur told Fancast.
Rob Lowe to exit Brothers & Sisters, "in talks" for new ABC franchise
Lowe, 45, will play a "powerful person entering our world from the outside," Schur said, and will stick around for some episodes next season. Parks and Recreation was given an early greenlight for Season 3 in January.
The former Brat Packer currently plays Sen. Robert McCallister and husband to Kitty (Calista Flockhart) on Brothers and Sisters. In January, Lowe announced his plans to leave the series by season's end and entered talks about his own ABC franchise shortly thereafter.
Parks and Recreation renewed for third season
Lowe also recently appeared in the comedy The Invention of Lying. His casting was first reported by EW.
Do you think Lowe will make a good addition to the Parks and Recreation cast?
