The Voice hit another high note, leading NBC to a Monday night win, but Smash failed to live up to its title in its second outing.
Smash drew 8.1 million viewers and a 2.8 rating in the adults 18-to-49 demo, dropping 29 and 25 percent, respectively, from its series debut a week ago. The show, however, still won the 10 o'clock hour in the demo.

Its lead-in, The Voice, had a smaller dip, averaging 16.1 million viewers (down 10 percent) and a 5.9 rating (down 12 percent).The drops aside, NBC has a lot to be happy about, as its one-two musical punch pushed CBS, the usual Monday champ, to season lows for all its shows.Speaking of lows, Fox's Alcatraz fell yet again to a series low of 6.2 million viewers and a 1.9 rating.8 p.m.
