Pilot News: "Boone" Is a Vampire, Trachtenberg Has Mercy Date

Well, at least this time he won't be the first to die. Ian Somerhalder, who as an original cast member of Lost played ill-fated Boone, has joined the cast of Vampire Diaries, the CW pilot based on a series of young adult novels.

Somerhalder will play one of two vampire brothers vying for the attention/sweet neck of Nina Dobrev's central heroine, Elena.

Also on board for Vampire Diaries are Katerina Graham (playing Elena's BFF) and Friday Night Lights' Zach Roerig (as Elena's ex).

Other PYTs landing pilots this week include Gossip bad girl Michelle Trachtenberg (as one of three nurses at the heart of NBC's Mercy) and What I Like About You's Allison Munn (in an untitled NBC comedy).
