He should have seen it from the start
It's been rough going for Alfred (Jack Bannon) on Pennyworthso far. His girlfriend, Esme (Emma Corrin), was kidnapped in the premiere and then murdered in last Sunday's episode. Our eponymous hero is naturally still reeling from the shocking sequence of events.
The police told Alfred that it was a robbery, but that's an awful lot of bad luck to just be a coincidence. In TV Guide's sneak peek of Sunday's upcoming episode, Ripper (Danny Webb) is the one to point out what should have been obvious to Alfred: Esme had no enemies, but the future butler has made quite a few since he met her. As soon as Ripper starts insinuating there's someone who would hate Alfred so much he'd want to make him suffer rather than kill him, you can see the wheels start to turn in Alfred's head.

It looks like he knows who his man is. The question remains, what is Alfred going to do with the information? Best guess says it's going to involve some hand-to-hand combat and a lot of blood.
