Patsy Byrne, Blackadder Actress, Dies at 80

Patsy Byrne, who played Nursie on Season 2 of the BBC series Blackadder, has died. She was 80.

Byrne died June 17 at Denville Hall, a care home in London that caters to elderly actors, the Huffington Post UK reports.

Byrne's passing comes days after the death of her Blackadder co-starRik Mayall, who played Lord Flashheart.

An announcement about Byrne's death on the show's Facebook page paid tribute to their characters' flirtatious relationship on-screen. "Very saddened to hear that Blackadder has lost another amazing actor," the post reads. "RIP Patsy Byrne AKA Nursie AKA Bernard. You and Flasheart can flirt for an eternity now."

Born in Kent, England, Byrne studied drama and joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in the 1960s. Her other television credits include the BBC children's series Playdays, in which she starred as Betty the Tea Lady.
