Guess who's coming to dinner? Norm MacDonald joins the Hecks at their Thanksgiving feast, bringing a little snark to the table as Mike's tent-dwelling brother, Rusty. The wonderfully deadpan Saturday Night Live vet gives us a little taste of what to expect from tonight's episode of The Middle.
TV Guide Magazine: You and Neil Flynn, who plays Mike, really do look like brothers!
MacDonald: I know — it's kind of weird. It was like looking into a fun house mirror that made all my features more handsome.
TV Guide Magazine: In the episode, Frankie tries to get the stoic Heck men to express their feelings. Should we keep a box of tissues handy? Will there be an emotional breakthrough?
MacDonald: No, there won't be any breakthroughs, but you might want a box of tissues nearby when you watch my attempt at acting.
TV Guide Magazine: Is acting difficult?
MacDonald: First of all, I had to pretend I had a different name, and then I had to pretend that it was a different month, because our Thanksgiving [in Canada] is in October. But these are all things that I learned studying under [famed acting teacher] Mr. Sanford Meisner.
The Middle airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on ABC
