NIGHT, NIGHT

Monday Night Football and ABC, its home for 36 years, parted ways last night with the telecast of the New England Patriots' 31-21 win over the New York Jets. (Interestingly, in a Hurley-and-his-numbers way, that was the same score tallied in MNF's first outing, the Cleveland Browns' Sept. 21, 1970, victory over the Jets.) Next season, ESPN begins its eight-year deal to host the weekly prime-time contest.
