NEWMAN AS BATMAN?
Warner Bros. is denying reports that veteran actor Paul Newman is in line to play the Caped Crusader at age 75 in an upcoming film based on the animated Batman Beyond series. According to a London tabloid, Newman was to play the crimefighter as a retiree who hands over the reins to a young newcomer named Terry McGinnis. "There's absolutely no truth to the rumor," insists a studio rep. As it is, Warner Bros. already has a Batman Beyond flick in the can, to be released later this fall.
