New Netflix Shows and Movies in March 2025

March is an unusually light month for Netflix, which has built its reputation as the world's biggest streaming service on the back of putting its competition into submission through volume. But the most interesting new releases Netflix does have coming this month give us a peek at Netflix's current strategy. 

The biggest swing is Everybody's Live with John Mulaney, another try at a late-night talk show format that has yet to work on streaming, but it emphasizes Netflix's current love affair with live programming. The Electric State is a massive sci-fi film from the Russo Brothers starring Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt, which Netflix hopes will replicate the movie theater experience in your home. And the British drama Adolescence is another international series that the company hopes will become a global hit.

Elsewhere, March brings Meghan Markle's lifestyle series With Love, Meghan, the murder mystery comedy The Residence, the reality dating series Temptation Island, and the docuseries American Manhunt: Osama bin Laden.

The best new Netflix movies and shows in March

Everybody's Live with John Mulaney (Starting March 12)

Chelsea Handler, Joel McHale, Norm Macdonald, and Michelle Wolf have all given the talk show format a try for Netflix, and only one — Handler's Chelsea — lasted more than one season, but none of them can be considered a success. Will that change for John Mulaney, who will deliver an episode of his new talk show every Wednesday for 12 weeks? If his brief 2024 talk show experiment John Mulaney Presents: Everybody's in LA is any indication, the answer is yes. Not much is known about the new format, except that Richard Kind will return as co-host, and that's a good thing.

Adolescence (March 13) 

It's still to be determined whether this four-episode British drama is one of the best shows of the year, but it certainly will be one of the most technically impressive shows of the year. The series about a 13-year-old boy who is accused of the murder of a classmate was filmed in four hour-long, single-take shots — no cutaways, no camera tricks — adding tension and deeply exploring the process of the justice system (as well as how long it takes to get from the suspect's home to the police station). The Electric State (March 14)

Netflix cracked open the piggy bank for this big-budget science-fiction film adapted from Swedish artist Simon Stålenhag's acclaimed graphic novel of the same name (Stålenhag's Tales From the Loop was previously adapted by Prime Video). Set in an alternative timeline after a destructive robot rebellion, The Electric State follows a young woman (Stranger Things' Millie Bobby Brown) as she searches for her brother with her robot companion and a smuggler (Guardians of the Galaxy's Chris Pratt) in a wasteland where robots were exiled. The Russo Brothers directed the film, which also features Ke Huy Quan, Woody Harrelson, and Stanley Tucci. [Trailer]
