Pilot Season: Vampire Diaries' Taylor Kinney Joins Dick Wolf's Chicago Fire

Taylor Kinney is returning to NBC. 

The Vampire Diariesalum has been cast in Dick Wolf's new NBC pilot Chicago Fire, TVGuide.com has confirmed. Deadline first reported the news.

Chicago Fire tells the tale of the complex and heroic men and women of the Chicago Fire Department. Kinney, who also starred in NBC's Trauma, will play Squad Lieutenant Kelly Severide, who leads an elite group of firefighters who take on the most dangerous fire and rescue missions. As previously announced, Eamonn Walker will also star.

Derek Haas and Michael Brandt will write and executive-produce with Law & Order creator Wolf.
