NBC to Remake Romancing the Stone as a TV Series

Get Billy Ocean on the horn! NBC is planning to adapt Romancing the Stone as a television series, Deadline reports. The 1984 romantic comedy stars Kathleen Turner as romance novelist Joan Wilder, who travels to Colombia to save her kidnapped sister, with the help of con man/charmer Jack T. Colton (Michael Douglas). The box office smash, which launched Turner's career and is considered Douglas' comeback film, spawned an equally successful sequel, 1985's Jewel of the Nile — and two killer theme songs, Eddy Grant's funky original and Ocean's peppier follow-up.

According to Deadline, the NBC version will similarly follow a "successful, yet unfulfilled woman" who sets out on an adventure trying to find her missing brother.

Let's cast this, folks. Who do you think should play the lead roles? I'll start: Desperate Housewife Eva Longoria and Brothers & Sisters' Dave Annable in the leads, Danny DeVito in the Danny DeVito role and Rizzoli & Isles' Colin Egglesfield as the missing brother, well, just because.
