Sad news
Actor and model Sam Sarpong Jr., who co-hosted the MTV reality show Yo Mommawith Wilmer Valderrama, died Monday at age 40 of an apparent suicide. Sarpong died after jumping off a bridge in Pasadena, Calif., according to US Weekly.
Born in London, Sarpong began his career as a model, walking in shows for Versace, Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana. He was the face of Tommy Hilfiger for several years.
After Yo Momma, which ran from 2006 to 2007, Sarpong appeared in several TV shows and landed a few minor film roles, including Carmen: A Hip Hopera, Love Don't Cost a Thingand Anchor Baby. He also had a minor role in the upcoming FX event series American Crime Story, which he recently finished filming.
Sarpong is survived by his father, Samuel Sarpong Sr., and sister June Sarpong.
