Milo Ventimiglia is still playing hero two years after NBC pulled the plug on Heroes. While in Europe shooting the Grace Kelly movie Grace of Monaco, the actor, who will play Robert De Niro's son in the upcoming thriller Killing Season, gave me the scoop on a six-episode Web series he's exec producing and starring in for Crackle.com.
In Chosen, which launches in early 2013, Ventimiglia is once again an ordinary guy faced with an extraordinary circumstance. "I play a well-to-do lawyer who gets a knock on his door," he says. "When he opens the door, there's a box. Inside is the photograph of a man he's never met before and a gun. He is expected to kill this guy and is also being hunted as part of a fun game put on by these very wealthy, bored people."
Ventimiglia is open to adapting Chosen for TV, but it's unlikely he'd star, as TNT just picked up his new Frank Darabont-produced mob drama, based on the book L.A. Noir. "It's about finding interesting roles — whether it's features, television or digital," he says. "I'm not going to lie — I'm having an interesting, fun life."
