Michael Strahan and Nicole Murphy, Engaged!

After learning that the pilot for his new TV show, Brothers, was picked up, former New York Giants star Michael Strahan proposed to girlfriend Nicole Murphy on a beach in the Bahamas.

"It was a pretty great day," Strahan's manager told People.

Strahan, who has four children from his previous marriage to Jean Strahan, says he and Murphy have a great relationship.

"She's a great girl," says Strahan. "I don't like to talk much about my private life, but I'm really happy."

Murphy, who has five children with ex-husband Eddie Murphy, didn't comment about future plans with Strahan. Strahan says that although they've talked about it, there are no plans for kids. "We've got nine between us already," he said.

Murphy talked to People about her and Strahan's relationship in 2008. "When I got divorced, I said never again," Murphy said. "[But] Michael and I talk about everything, and we both love to travel, explore and laugh."

No date has been set for their wedding, but FOX will premiere Brothers, in which Strahan plays a former NFL superstar dealing with post-gridiron life, in mid-September.
