"I've been a fan of John Constantine since he was first introduced in 1985," executive producer David S. Goyer said in a statement. "This Constantine, envisioned by [director] Neil Marshall and embodied by Matt Ryan, looks like he sprang directly from the comics' covers. Fans old and new are going to be in for a treat."
Constantine follows the titular con-man-turned-occult-detective in Liverpool as he's tasked with defending the world against dark forces from beyond. The character was first introduced in the Swamp Thing comic in 1985, and went on to appear in several other DC Comics as well as his own series.
