LOU RAWLS DEAD AT 72

Singer Lou Rawls died Friday morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he was being treated for lung and brain cancer, CNN reports. He was 72. Trained in gospel, Rawls enjoyed his first solo hit, "Love Is a Hurtin' Thing," in 1966, and saw his "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine" top the R&B charts in 1976. He is survived by his wife, Nina, and by three adult children and an infant son.
